Application Process

The University of Queensland School of Medicine Ochsner Clinical School program has rolling admissions. We recommend that interested students submit their applications as early as possible.

To avoid blocked emails and in order to ensure the application process is handled with confidentiality over email, please add mededpath.org and [email protected] to your approved list of emails.

To avoid missed emails let us know your preferred email address for correspondence (an address that you check regularly) as you will be receiving important messages from us.

When our office receives ANY document on your behalf an email receipt from [email protected] will be sent to the email address we have on file for you. If you do not receive this notification within a week of the document being sent, please contact our office. When all required application documents have been received and deemed to have met the minimum standards for that entry year, you will be invited for an interview.

Application Timeline

*This is general and subject to change.

Applications are processed in the order they are received.

• Applications Open December 1st for the class starting a year from February (i.e. Dec 2016 for Feb 2018)

• Interviews begin in February

• Review Process at UQ starts in early Spring, once an application packet (including interview) is complete (see Requirements below)

• Decisions can take 6-8 weeks

 

Requirements for Admission

U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.

Entrance requirements are not yet confirmed for 2018 eligibility*

• Applications that meet the following minimum standards will be considered for entry in February 2018: a Bachelor's or more advanced degree earned in 2008 or later, with a cumulative GPA of a B (5.0 of 7.0 scale) and an MCAT of 26 taken January 2015 or 500 taken April 2015 and after.

1. Application Form
This downloadable application is interactive. Please download the form, enter the information requested, print, hand-sign and mail it to our office. We do not accept AMCAS applications. We do not accept online applications.

We CANNOT accept faxed or emailed applications. When printing, please select “Fit to printable area” to ensure the pages fit on each sheet completely.

3. MCAT Score Report
Send us your MCAT score report, including the verification number and AAMC ID number, either in pdf format via email to: [email protected], or by mail to our office. To find out when the next MCAT test will be given, click here.

4. Official Transcripts
Transcripts from degree-granting institutions, as well as transcripts from transfer credit schools and post-bacc courses are required. Request that official transcripts be mailed directly from the college or university to our office. We also accept transcripts sent electronically by the credit-granting institution and from Interfolio. Please direct electronic documents to [email protected]. We cannot accept photocopied or student-released transcripts.

5. Resume
Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit their Resume/CV.

6. Recommendations
Recommendations are not required. However, if available, please have them sent to our office.

7. Fee
There is no application fee.

8. Receipt of Documents
We will send an e-mail acknowledging each document’s receipt in our office. Please add [email protected] to your approved sender list to avoid important e-mails being sent to junk.

9. Interviews
When all required documents have been received and deemed to have met the minimum standards for that entry year, applicants will be invited for an interview, either in New Orleans at the UQ Ochsner Clinical School campus or via Skype. Detailed information about the interviews will be provided when applicants are invited. Interviews will be conducted as long as seats are available for the upcoming application cycle.

10. Admissions Decisions
When each application packet is complete (including interview) and deemed to meet minimum standards for eligibility, it will be sent to Brisbane for assessment. Decisions are made approximately 8 weeks after application submission. Applicants will receive an email notifying them of the admissions decision.

11. Conditional Offers
Applicants who have not yet completed their Bachelor’s degree when applying, and whose applications are reviewed favorably, will be given a conditional offer of admission pending successful completion of the Bachelor’s degree.

Tuition and Fees

*Tuition for the 2018 cohort has not yet been determined.
Tuition for the 2017 Cohort: $67,456 USD per year.
Tuition deposit: $3,000 USD (applied against first semester tuition).
